Elaine's Sachertorte
ElaineAlso known as Elaine's Famous Chocolate Cake, this decadent Sachertorte is a rich and moist chocolate cake topped with a smooth chocolate ganache.
Ingredients
- 100g Dark Chocolate
- 200g Dark Chocolate (For Ganache)
- 160ml Cream (For Ganache)
- 250ml Water
- 125g Butter
- 3x Eggs
- 150g Self-raising Flour
- 70ml Cocoa
- 60g Ground Almonds
Instructions
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 130°C.
- Melt the chocolate in the water.
- Cream the butter with the sugar (Machine Recommended).
- Slowly add eggs, one by one, to the creamed butter, mixing thoroughly.
- Sift flour, cocoa and ground almonds together into the creamed butter mixture, and mix.
- Add the melted chocolate.
Baking
- Place mixture in round baking tin.
- Place in oven for 35 minutes.
Ganache
- Melt chocolate in the cream.
- Pour over the hot cake.
Tips
- Wait for the cake and ganache to cool before decorating.
- When the chocolate ganache is on the cake, you can blow cake glitter on or add any other type of decorative cake goodies.
