Elaine's Sachertorte

Also known as Elaine's Famous Chocolate Cake, this decadent Sachertorte is a rich and moist chocolate cake topped with a smooth chocolate ganache.

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 130°C.
  2. Melt the chocolate in the water.
  3. Cream the butter with the sugar (Machine Recommended).
  4. Slowly add eggs, one by one, to the creamed butter, mixing thoroughly.
  5. Sift flour, cocoa and ground almonds together into the creamed butter mixture, and mix.
  6. Add the melted chocolate.

Baking

  1. Place mixture in round baking tin.
  2. Place in oven for 35 minutes.

Ganache

  1. Melt chocolate in the cream.
  2. Pour over the hot cake.
