Lorna's Shortbread
Lorna HollandIndulge in the rich, buttery goodness of Lorna's famous shortbread.
Ingredients
- 681g Sifted Flour
- 500g Butter
- 226g Sugar
Instructions
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 150°C.
- Grease a thin baking tray thoroughly.
- Cream the butter with the sugar (Machine Recommended)
- Add the sifted flour.
- Mix thoroughly by hand until mixture is consistent.
Baking
- Place the mixture on a thin baking tray.
- Punch the mixture down until flat and even.
- Place tray in the oven for approx. 1 hour.
- Cut into desired-sized pieces.
- Allow the pieces to cool before removing them from the tray.

Tips
- You can replace the butter with Stork Baking Margarine to cut costs in half.
- Nan used to double the measurements to fit larger trays.
- Depending on your oven, 1 hour may not be enough. So you may have to leave it in for longer.
- Optionally, if you want it to be crispy, you can cut the pieces and put the tray back into the oven at a lower temperature (i.e. 100°C) for 15 to 20 minutes.
